Appointed to the Red Card Task Force by Dr. Djibril Diallo—President and CEO of the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN) and a Senior United Nations Official—who heads up the Red Card global campaign that was created to eradicate all forms of gender-based inequality. In the game of football (soccer), a red card symbolizes a significant infraction of the rules. The ARDN Red Card Campaign seeks to mobilize individuals from all sectors of society to commit to giving a Red Card to all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls.
During the impassioned Red Card Global Launch at the UN Headquarters representatives from Governments, the United Nations, International Organizations, the Private Sector, and the Civil Society Organization made presentations for the attainment of the following objectives:
• Empower and encourage female leadership across sectors.
• Encourage others to become strong allies for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
• Condemn all forms of gender-based discrimination and violence.
• Accelerate the achievement of a world where no one is left behind.
• Bring attention to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable •
• Development: Gender Equality, Reduced Inequalities, and Partnerships for the Goals.
The ARDN Red Card's first phase launched in 2019 during the Women’s World Cup in France and will continue its second phase at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
FIFA is pleased to announce the much-anticipated, 64-fixture match schedule for the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
The first-ever co-hosted women's tournament's opening match and the opening ceremony will take place on 20 July 2023 at New Zealand’s Eden Park in Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau. Stadium Australia in Sydney/Gadigal has been selected to host the final a month later on 20 August.
